SINCE MOVING BACK TO THE LAKES, THIS PRACTICE HAS BEEN EMBRACED BY THE LOCAL RETIRED COMMUNITY AS IT REGAINS AND MAINTAINS MOVEMENT IN THE JOINTS, RELIEVING AHES AND PAINS IN THE BODY.  IN LONDON, I TAUGHT MANY MARATHON, TRIATHLON AND IRON MAN ENTHUSIASTS.  THEY USED THE YOGA TO PREVENT AND REHABILITATE FROM SPORTS INJURIES.  IT TRULY IS YOGA FOR EVERYONE.

YIN YOGA HAS ALREADY HELPED MANY OF MY STUDENTS TO RELIEVE AND MANAGE BACK PAIN, SHOULDER PAIN AND SCIATICA.  IT REDUCES HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND EASES STIFFNESS IN THE SHOULDERS, HIPS AND LOWER BACK. YOGA HELPS RELIEVE STRESS RELATED CONDITIONS, PREVENT SPORTS INJURIES AND BRING RELIEF FROM ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION.

Yin Yoga is the slow, deep practice which compliments the Yang practice.  It is my mission in life to introduce the world to the amazing benefits of Yin Yoga in particular.  It is, as it sounds, the balancing practice for Yang styles of yoga which are necessary to maintain muscle strength and flexibility.  However, as many styles of yoga have evolved in to more of a "workout" routine, it is Yin Yoga which is missing in most people's fitness regimes.  The basic level of Yin Yoga is to target the connective tissues of the body thus relieving stiffness in the joints.  It is a deep, quiet, still practice bringing relaxation and ease to the practioner.  Through study with me you will learn about how your body and your joints work - not how to acheive the same "shape" as your neighbour. You will develop an understanding of what you can acheive safely in yoga asanas practice and delight as your body starts to free up.  Yin Yoga is an excellent preparation for the higher stages of yoga when one needs to be able to sit comfortably for an extended period of time during breathing excersises (pranayama) and concentration and meditation practice.  

WHAT TO BRING ALONG:
  • Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.  
  • Wear loose fitting clothing and bring a warm layer.  Yin Yoga is deeply relaxing causing the parasympathetic nervous system to kick in (sleep mode) causing blood to be directed away from the muscles to the internal organs lowering your body temperature.
  • A blanket is useful for knee padding and extra warmth.
  • An enquisitive attitude!
